Wouldn’t it be nice if we only read kind thoughts online? Or if the comments back were kind too?
Wouldn’t it be nice to leave just a little bit of clean, green, untouched earth around for our kids? And their kids?
Wouldn’t it be nice if all the shoes we had in our closet were good enough?
If we didn’t throw away our garbage IN garbage bags? If what mattered to you, mattered to everyone else, too?
Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t want what everyone else had? If we were satisfied with how we looked? To be able to sing? To draw or paint?
Wouldn’t it be nice if the things we bought weren’t heavily packaged in plastic or cardboard? To bake bread instead of buy it?
Wouldn’t it be nice to get a letter? If technology wasn’t developing so damn fast? If the house only had one phone again? …and the kids raced for it when it rang?
Wouldn’t it be nice if we trusted the water in our faucets again? There’s nothing wrong with it, you know. To have three acres of land out your back door? …or just one.
Wouldn’t it be nice if supper was ready tonight when you got home? To start your day when YOU want? Or to go home early?
Wouldn’t it be nice to be a kid again but with the adult knowledge we have now? To shake hands with our heroes instead of watching them from afar?
It sure would.
